If you’ve purchased one of our pre-need cremation plans with Worldwide Coverage, there are no boundaries. We offer removal and cremation services anywhere in the world.
To those in need of immediate service, The Nautilus Society can provide removal and cremation services to anyone within a 75 mile radius of any of our eight California premises. As we have offices in the Central Valley and Bay Area, the boundaries of our Sacramento service area is limited only to the north, by the northern borders of Yolo, Sutter and Placer counties. In all other directions, we serve all of Northern California. Please check out our California service map for more info.
Otherwise, from the Pacific coast to the Nevada state line, The Nautilus Society is standing by to serve you.
The Nautilus Society has headquarters in Sacramento, CA, Oakland, CA and Lawndale, CA. Combined with our parent company, The Neptune Society of Central California, there are a total of eight offices throughout California.
Our immediate-need service area includes everywhere within 75 miles of one of those eight offices, which comprises much of the state. The northernmost counties that we serve are Placer, Sutter, Yolo, Napa and Sonoma. The southernmost counties that we serve are Ventura, Los Angeles and Orange. Please see our service map for more.
This service area also applies to pre-need customers with California Coverage.
Nautilus Society customers who have purchased a pre-need cremation plan with Worldwide Coverage are eligible for on-call service anywhere in the world, including the parts of California that fall outside of our service area.
Your money is placed into state-required trust fund, then held and invested according to state law for future need. Trust fund report as filed with the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
If you move within California, the policy will be honored by one of our offices. No additional charges will be incurred if you live within a 75 mile radius of your local office. If you move out of state, you should add Worldwide Coverage to you policy. With this coverage, we will take care of you wherever the death may occur. There will be no additional cremation charges for your survivors.

Neptune Society of Central California operates under a “concurrent use” agreement. We operate independently where no royalties or fees are paid up to a governing body. The concurrent use agreement allows us to use the name Neptune Society of Central California only in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey Counties. In Central California, we cover; Kern, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, Madera, Mariposa and Merced Counties. In Southern California, The Neptune Society of Orange County has an agreement that covers Orange County.
In 1980, The Nautilus Society was founded as a subsidiary of the Neptune Society of Central California and shares the same ownership. Nautilus Society has offices in Sacramento, Oakland and Los Angeles.
The Nautulis Society adheres to the strictest identification guidelines in the industry, in order to minimize the chance of human error. To reassure our clients, the entire cremation process is monitored by closed circuit video. Additionally, a numbered metal disc is assigned to the deceased and accompanies the body throughout the cremation process. The disc stays with the ashes as they are placed in a temporary container, awaiting final disposition by The Nautilus Society or the family.

A private memorial ceremony on the Pacific Ocean can be a beautiful way to celebrate the life of a departed loved one. Throughout centuries of human history, scattering ashes at sea has been a perennially popular choice for the final disposition of cremated remains.
The Nautilus Society owns and operates two beautiful motor yachts. Each over sixty feet long, both yachts are certified by the U.S. Coast Guard and can accommodate up to forty guests. They are comfortable and safe.
One is berthed in Berkeley, the other in Newport Beach.
Each is available for group and private bookings.
